API TASK FORCE POPULATION HEALTH
EQUITY COLLECTIVE (PHEC)

Equity in OC is an Orange County Health Care Agency initiative that aims to improve the lives of underserved and multicultural communities in Orange County by advancing health equity, access, and wellness through a collective, responsive, and unified approach. Funded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Health Equity grant, Orange County United Way is the grant administration partner for the Orange County Health Care Agency’s Office of Population Health and Equity.

In June 2022, The Cambodian Family was selected to receive funding and to serve as a backbone organization on behalf of the APITF Population Health Equity Collective. APITF PHEC is one of the largest coalitions in Orange County, bringing together 20 Asian American, Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander (AANHPI), and Middle Eastern and North African (MENA)- serving organizations in support of a common agenda. Our APITF PHEC currently works to:

 

1. Develop an AANHPI/MENA Health Equity Plan

2. Address health inequities and improve social determinants of health through collaboration, partnership, and inclusion of lived experiences and community voices

3. Overcome inequitable access to opportunities, resources, and support services for targeted and prioritized populations in Orange County

4. Build and support a cohesive and sustainable collective in Orange County to address systemic health inequities faced by AANHPI and MENA communities

5. Develop and implement capacity building activities to establish governance, organizational structure, and an integrated implementation platform for pursuing joint projects and budget advocacy (local and state level)
